João has worked for major Brazilian law firms, and has held government roles including Minister of Infrastructure and Secretary of the Federal Administration. He has been been president of companies in the services and infrastructures sector and a member of the board for private companies and public service concessionaries.

His areas of practice include administrative and business law, parliamentary advisory, infrastructure (including concessions and PPPs [Public-Private Partnerships]), litigation and arbitration.

He has vast experience in setting up start-ups for new businesses and companies, as well as in their restructuring and turnaround (strategic management; recovery of value and corporate performance).
